Q: Do you accept medical aid?

Yes, and we submit straight to the medical aid (pending on funds available)

Q: Do you accept card/cash?

A: Yes

Q: What should I bring for my first session?

A:

  • Your contact details
  • A brief description of your concern or referral
  • Any relevant scans or referral letters (if available)
  • Your medical aid details (if applicable)
  • Comfortable clothes for exercises
  • Shorts if any lower limb will be treated (we have a spare short available)
Q: How long are the sessions?

A: 45 minutes

Q: Which physiotherapist must I book with?
A: Our administration staff is trained to ask the right questions, so that they know who is the best physiotherapists to book you with
Q: Do you offer rehabilitation till the final phase?
A: Yes, with our state of the art facility and equipment we can manage your injury from the acute phase till return to sport
Q: How many sessions will I need?
A: This is always a difficult question, but after a thorough first evaluation we will be able to give you a clear plan going forward
Q: How often will I need to come to physio?
A: This will be determined by the severity, intensity and the nature of your condition and after a thorough first evaluation we will be able to give you a clear plan going forward
Q: What will happen if there is a complication during my rehabilitation?
A: We have direct contact with all our orthopaedic surgeons and health care practitioners and will notify them immediately
Q: What will happen if my physiotherapist is on leave?
A: All physiotherapists at our practice are trained to treat all conditions, but your current physiotherapist will make sure a proper handover is given to another member of the team if they are on leave
Q: Will I get exercises to do at home?
A: Yes, we believe in individually tailored exercise programmes, which will be sent to you via email. You can then have access to photos and videos of your exercises and there is even an app you can download on your phone
Q: Will we do exercises during the session?

Depending on where you are in your phase of recovery, your physiotherapist will use their clinical reasoning skills and decide whether you need one of the following:

  • Hands-on session only
  • Hands-on session combined with exercises
  • Exercises only session
Q: Will I pay extra for shockwave, stimpod, AlterG or SensoPro if it forms part of my physiotherapy session?

A: If we clinically reason that any of the above is needed in a physiotherapy session you will not be charged extra. If extra sessions are needed outside of a normal physiotherapy sessions, these costs will be discussed with the patient

Q: Do you do dry needling/acupuncture?

A: Yes, we are all trained to do to dry needling

Q: Do you just massage?

A: No, there is more than just massage involved in a physiotherapy session. We actually address joint mobility, neural mobility, strengthening and many other aspects, but book your session and come experience it for yourself

Q: What should I wear?

A: Clothes that will expose the area to be treated (but we do have shorts if you forget)

Q: Should I put ice or heat on my injury?

A: Book a session, and we will teach you all about it

Q: How long before the time should I cancel my appointment?

A: To respect our time and other patients that need an appointment please cancel 24 hours in advance. But we do understand that emergencies happen

Q: How long after my surgery should I book my first appointment?

A: Unless you have a cast, we prefer that your first follow-up session with us is one week after discharge. Please call our rooms once you are discharged to book your follow-up session

Q: Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

A: No, we are first line practitioners and you can book an appointment without a referral

Q: When should I see physio/bio?

A: Physiotherapists are trained to treat acute injuries, but also manage chronic injuries and maintain general strength and conditioning. At Vital Touch we believe great outcomes come from a multidisciplinary approach,  where each expert plays a role in your recovery journey. You’ll be referred when it’s clinically appropriate, and we’ll continue to work closely together –  ensuring your care remains coordinated, seamless, and centred around you
